On your way up Philopappos you will pass a small cave which is supposed to be the prison of Socrates, but there is no proof of this, and it is much more likely to have been imprisoned in the state prison in the ancient Agora.

During WWII artifacts from the Acropolis and National Archaeological Museum were secreted here, sealed behind a wall.

The many holes on the surface of the rock (see above) were used to sustain wooden beams. There must have been a two- or three-story structure in front of these caves. It is now known when they were made, nor what was the nature of the building

I Saw some ladies riding their bicycles near Thision Athens today. I just had  to photograph them. I used my D7200 with my Nikkor S 50mm f/1.4 ,Ai converted and I remembered the Queen Hit, Bicycle. Not even close but still a nice colorful moment in a sunny day.

Walking down the street, fully packed with people enjoying the rejuvenating Sun . The flea market has spilled its goods  and sellers in the surrounding streets. Yes Typical Sunday morning. Yet something caught my eye , camera up …Snap! Yes I captured a time capsule ..on wheels. I cherish the moment, I dig into the history pile… but that’s another story.

The Stoa of Attalos (also spelled Attalus) was a stoa (covered walkway or portico) in the Agora of Athens, Greece. It was built by and named after King Attalos II of Pergamon, who ruled between 159 BC and 138 BC. The current building was reconstructed from 1952 -1956 by American architects.

Great morning today it was. Sunny clear weather and early in the morning I visited Athens busy classical area of Thision, under Acropolis. The ancient ruins blended with the classical late 19th and early 20th century buildings under the bright sun. People gathering to see what the little tables of the flea market sellers had to offer.Others where sitting at the coffee shops next to Thision station or opposite Acropolis. Sometimes I believe its summer in Athens even in the mid November…
